Unshackle the chains, the habits, the predictable and uninspired holding you back. Take a gander, stay longer….stay forever in a place of respite, refresh and rejuvenation, where re-birth of spirit, hopes, dreams and life lies on the end of a paintbrush, in the flat out of backcountry adventure, or via Internet connection to the online business you have imagined…too long. The everyday getaway. Freedom of spirit amidst nature’s cathedral. A place that is deeply affordable…and enabler of everything you imagined your life to be…but maybe haven’t reached…yet. Challenging times have us question our “why”…. reconsider our path, make life-changing decisions. The mountains…the birthplace of the mighty Columbia…the mystical Kootenay…the deeper connectedness of people and place are…right here…calling to you. Make a change…for life.
Pioneer Your Future…Where New Beginnings Are The Soul Of Us.
Nature is humbling here, in this spot beside the path, where a river begins a 2000 km journey to the Pacific Ocean. The mighty Columbia River starts here…in Canal Flats. Close your eyes. Imagine a new future for you in a place that feels so….free.
Warm seasons. Eat what you grow. Three hours from the big city. Get in on the ground floor of a community on the rise.
No Place Like Home
Settle in. Imagine it – going up! Canal Flats has deep housing affordability and award-winning planning policy that enables dream-making. Retire 10 years earlier. Buy a home at 25 instead of 25. Enable your entrepreneurial vision. Leave $ in your pocketbook to do what you love. Build three units on a property and have your property become an investment return…work-live, secondary suites, laneway housing, smaller minimum home size. Airbnb is OK here. Run your home-based business with few limitations. In a BC starving for affordability, we deliver.

The community has ease of access to a large market (Calgary – 320 km NW), an international airport (Cranbrook – 80 km S), and a full array of local services (Invermere – 50 km N) and recreation amenities.
Aim For The Stars
“I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.” – Vincent Van Gogh
With a minimum of street lighting and pollution-free skies, a starry night in Canal Flats is a sight to behold…humbling…for how small one can feel amidst the infinite. Step in the shoes of Van Gogh. Dream a little…or a lot…in Canal Flats.
